Glantreo’s SeNP for LFA – New data showing advantages
Selenium nanoparticles for lateral flow assays
The bright red colour of selenium colloid solutions makes them ideal for use as staining reagents to label proteins of interest in immunoassays. Glantreo’s Selenium nanoparticles (SeNP) offer an alternative to gold nanoparticles (AuNP) and latex in lateral flow antigen (LFA) tests.
300 nm UV-VIS spectra after day of manufacture

What are the advantages of large SeNP?
❖ High visibility compared to smaller NP
❖ Increased sensitivity due to size
❖ Fewer antibodies needed for a band
❖ Compatible with passive adsorption
❖ Long shelf life of > 12 months
❖ Reproducible batches with size CV<8%
❖ Stable conjugation at OD20
Increased visibility due to size
Due to their larger size, 300nm SeNPs are more visible than 40nm AuNP to the naked eye. The increased diameter of 300nm SeNP produces a bigger optical signal per binding event, meaning at low concentrations of antigen, 300 nm SeNPs are more visible than their smaller counterparts.
